My first time using an elevator was an uplifting experience. The second time let me down.

Behind the Groan

One Ride Up and One Ride Down

“Uplifting” usually describes an encouraging experience, while “let me down” describes disappointment. An elevator can also perform both actions literally. The first sentence makes the ride sound emotionally inspiring; the second reverses that feeling while sending the passenger back downstairs. Keep both sentences equally sincere so the direction change carries the joke. It works near an elevator, but no prop is required because the familiar up-and-down motion is easy to picture.
