“Join the club” usually means other people share the same problem. In golf, a club is also the organization a golfer joins and the tool used to hit the ball. That gives the two-word answer several fitting meanings at once. Ask the setup as sympathetic small talk, then answer without a long pause. It works naturally before a casual round or after a harmless missed putt.
